Conservation and Climate Change

Green house gas emissions have skyrocketed over the past several decades, and the grand majority of scientists agree - climate change is real and is a global crisis.  Ask anyone who lives in Virginia Beach, and they'll be able to tell you the real affects of climate change on their lives; flooding is prevalent and is only getting worse. From the coal ash in Possum Point, to the sewage in the Potomac coming from Alexandria, there are several issues facing our local environment.

We need elected officials who are not only willing to acknowledge it exists, but also to act boldly against it. Even in the face of pressure and money from the fossil fuel industry. I would advocate for reform that would give the Virginia DEQ the teeth it needs to enforce regulations, and I would push for us to move boldly and swiftly toward a predominantly-renewable energy grid.
